RE: Several outlets lost power....

As others have said, look for a GFI (ground fault interupter).
It will look something like this. Reset it.

RE: Electric trailer tongue jacks

Using the tongue jack to relieve pressure on the spring bars is normal procedure.
Yes, a power tongue jack makes this much easier. I have had a Barker and now have an Atwood...both excellent.
Get the heavier duty model...2500 or heavier.
Install it yourself. It's a piece of cake.

RE: Winterizing

My thoughts, I would not jack it up to save the tires. I highly doubt they will "flat spot" anyway. You risk all kinds of problems with frame tweaking/bending, settling, etc. when you jack. The tires are designed to carry the weight. Pump up them up to max. and park your rig out of standing water.

RE: Pacific Shores Newport OR

Definitely a resort to stay at IF you want nice ocean views and are willing to pay more per night than the usual.
And....if you have a high end motor home. They don't allow trailer trash like us in....lol.
But, we have driven through and you are correct. It is a top notch faciliity in a prime location. Glad you are enjoying the Oregon Coast.

RE: Diesel 4x4 v. Diesel 2 Wheel Drive Fuel Mileage

Good questions, but here is a thought for you.
FORGET about mileage - good, bad, or whatever. You are pulling 16K and you are going to use a lot of fuel to do so.
Get the truck that you want and like and realize that for mileage think Honda Civic.

RE: Unpluging when parking

Right you are skip...but what about those brake lights? You will surely need them while backing into the covered storage...
Oh my gosh!
My wife doesn't get some of my attempts at humor either...
Soooo, I'll try to clear this up....I was kddding...:S
Anyway, thanks for all the suggestions on how to have brake lights work when backing up into a covered storage stall at 0 mph.

Automobile products work just fine...after all, your MH is really just a BIG auto. After you finish washing, waxing and detailing you will realize just how REALLY big is!!

RE: Unpluging when parking

Do it however it's most convenient for you. Bottom line, you don't need electric brake assist while traveling at ZERO miles per hour (or anything close to that speed)

RE: How good is Jayco at fixing things?

I can imagine how frustrated you are.
I have heard that Jayco is very solid on customer satisfaction and warranty approval but, 18 months out of warranty...you may be in trouble on this one.
I can assure you that the dealer will not eat this repair without some help from Jayco. Like fordsooperdootydieselsmoker said, give it a try.
Good luck.

RE: Water heater plug sheared

Happened to me once when we had an Atwood water heater.
I heated up the tip of an old flat-head screw driver using a hand held propane torch. The almost red hot screw driver melted its way into the remnants of the nylon plug. I was able to break apart - unscrew the plug and remove it.
I think I used needle-nose pliers also as part of the process.
It's doable, don't buy a new water heater.

RE: Is the World That Different?

Wife and I have decided to lock up nothing. It's kind of a game we are playing to see how long it takes until something is stolen...we are still waiting.
While camping we really don't have anything that we absolutely can't live without (except each other). If something is taken - we will replace it (or not) and move on down the road.

RE: Looking to purchase our first TT

Welcome to the Forum.
Hard to say if this is a "good choice for a first time buyer."
Any used trailer, regardless of make, model or brand is only as good as how well it has been maintained. A top dollar Airstream can be bad deal if it has been neglected. Certainly $5950 is a very good way to "test the waters".
Another consideration is - do you have a suitable tow vehicle to pull this unit?
Good luck with your new adventure.
